Exeter Cathedral: to host immersive sound and light experience
It’s an experience which amazes and enthrals visitors with its rich array of visual and sound effects – and it’s now set to ‘wow’ visitors to Exeter Cathedral.
The Cathedral is hosting Luxmuralis’ The Storytellers. The art installation is running from 7 – 10 January. Organisers explain the show promises to take visitors on a journey through the rich history of storytelling.
The creation of artistic collaboration Luxmuralis will transform the historic building’s architecture with literary-inspired projections.
Visitors will be able to enjoy a multiple spectacular sound and light artworks exploring literary themes as they walk through ancient texts – and become immersed in the realms of famous authors’ imaginations. It’ll be the sixth installation of Luxmuralis at Exeter Cathedral.
‘Exeter Cathedral provides the perfect canvas for Luxmuralis’ Storytellers sound and light show,’ says The Very Reverend Jonathan Greener, Dean of Exeter.
‘In 2026, not only will the cathedral’s nave and quire be transformed by mesmerising projections, but we’re extending into the newly renovated east end and Friends’ Cloister Gallery as well – all beautifully illuminated by the artworks.’
‘We are particularly excited by this year’s literary-themed son-et-lumiere because Exeter Cathedral is home to a huge library with many fascinating stories to tell – including the 10th century Exeter Book, the oldest book of English literature in the world.’
‘Luxmuralis’ shows are always very popular and provide the ideal opportunity to come and see this fantastic building in a new light.’
