Balfour Betty team to operate from Derriford site
The UK’s largest construction company, Balfour Beatty, is establishing a regional office at Plymouth Science Park (PSP).
More than 100 businesses have a prescience at PSP which is widely seen as an expanding central base for UK and international companies.
The Derriford site is strongly focused on supporting companies involved in research and projects centred around Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic (STEM).
Over the past 25 years, the 25 acre site has expanded during the course of five phases of development.
‘We’re proud to have delivered a number of successful infrastructure projects in and around Plymouth, and our move to Plymouth Science Park marks an exciting new chapter for our regional team,’ explains Cliff Francis, Project Lead at Balfour Beatty
‘The Park’s STEM-focused community and collaborative culture felt like a natural fit for our people, and we’ve already experienced a warm welcome from the team here.’
The team’s goal will be to employ ‘local people to deliver high-quality infrastructure for both public and private sector clients across the South West.’
The company has played a key role in a variety of construction projects following its inception in 1908. Their work extends from highways and bridges to flood defence schemes and coastal infrastructure.
‘We’re thrilled to welcome Balfour Beatty to the Park,’ says Dave Hockton, CEO of Plymouth Science Park.
‘As a business delivering critical infrastructure that supports the region’s growth and resilience, their presence adds even greater depth to our community of companies working across engineering, technology and the built environment.’
