Down To Chance being previewed at TRP’s The Lab
Theatre goers in Plymouth can preview a partnership production of ‘Down To Chance’ before it heads to the Edinburgh Fringe. The work’s been selected as the Theatre Royal Plymouth’s partnership production.
The Theatre says ‘Down To Chance’ offers a ‘heartwarming portrait of a community in crisis in 1964 Alaska, as the protagonists find themselves at the centre of a remarkable relief effort with the whole world listening.’
TRP explains that its partnership with Pleasance Theatre for the Edinburgh National Partnerships programme helps to ‘support extraordinary work around the UK and Northern Ireland.’
‘We are thrilled to be supporting Maybe You Like It and their production of Down To Chance through the Edinburgh National Partnership,’ says TRP’s Associate Director, Tom Jackson-Greaves.
‘In collaboration with Pleasance Theatre we look forward to the show previewing at TRP before further dates in London and its run at the internationally renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival.’
‘Theatre Royal Plymouth is passionate about nurturing South West talent and this collaboration offers an incredible platform for artists to develop and showcase their work.’
The news follows the recent success of ten south west schools, colleges and theatre groups performing on Plymouth Theatre Royal’s Drum stage for TRP’s hosting of the regional National Theatre Connections’ Festival.
More than 5,000 young people from more than 270 companies and schools took part in an event which has seen more than 125,000 people exploring theatre production over the past three decades of the festival.
Down To Chance will rehearse and preview at TRP and in London before a full festival as a part of the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe.
Plymouth audiences can see Down To Chance, before it goes to Edinburgh Fringe, in The Lab from Wednesday 02 July to Friday 04 July.
