Charity’s Head of Carers Services wins Team Leader trophy

A senior leader at Devon’s foremost health and wellbeing charity, Westbank Community Health and Care, has won a prestigious regional award that recognises the work of Care Professionals across the South West.

Andy Hood, who oversees Westbank’s Carers Services including Devon Carers, was named Team Leader of the Year at the Care and Support West awards 2024, now in their 11th year.

Andy attended the recent ceremony which was held at Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol. He received a trophy in recognition of his leadership of a team that supports more than thirty thousand unpaid carers across Devon.

‘I’m absolutely delighted to win a Care and Support West award this year for my role leading Westbank’s Devon Carers Service,’ says Andy.

‘It’s great to be recognised in this way and for the hard work from my team that’s gone into developing our fantastic service for unpaid carers.’

‘It’s particularly rewarding for us to receive this accolade in the year during which Devon Carers is celebrating its 25th anniversary.’

Westbank Community Health and Care helps people of all ages across Devon to lead healthier, happier and more fulfilled lives.

Earlier this year saw the team sharing stories reflecting the difference the charity makes for its users with the aim of recruiting more helpers across the community.

The Care and Support West Awards celebrate the hard work and dedication of some 500 Care Providers in the South West, which together employ around 19,000 people who have a positive impact on the lives of some of the most vulnerable in society.
