‘Redefining modern family living’

Imagine enjoying the stunning views of the Exe Estuary – all from the comfort of a 1930s family property recently refurbished to include all the latest luxuries.

That’s the ‘dream come true’ for one Devon family whose home overlooks one of the country’s most stunning views.

And it’s all thanks to Vision, an Exeter-based building and renovation business.

Its’ work on the project recently resulted in an accolade being presented to them at the Federation of Master Builders’ South West Awards 2025.

Set up in 2014 by Ross Pollard, the business grew to handle increasingly complex projects from new builds, extensions and single room refurbishments through to whole house renovations.

The Exe Estuary property project saw the Vision team updating an indoor swimming pool and adding a steam room.

They also created a bespoke cinema room and converted an attic space into guest accommodation. The work didn’t stop there though!

There’s also a new bathroom, updated bedrooms and landscaping across the extensive gardens.

‘The project has been a real labour of love for the team’

‘The homeowners put their trust in Vision’s expertise for this major renovation and continued to live in the home for much of the renovation period requiring us to work closely with them to cause as little disruption to their lives as possible,’ says Ross.

The technology in the home is significant with high-tech systems controlling lighting, heating and blinds (all via an app). And then there’s custom-made bedroom storage.

And if the family would like to enjoy head outside to enjoy the view then they can be assured the garden’s going to look great – thanks to its irrigation system which uses rainwater to ensure the flower beds are kept in tip top order.

The judges praised the project saying it delivers ‘comfort, style, and cutting-edge automation, redefining modern family living in a timeless setting.’

And the praise didn’t stop there. Unsurprisingly, the clients provided a five star testimonial describing Vision as a ‘group of passionate professionals dedicated to bringing our vision to life.’

They added the finished project as ‘nothing short of spectacular – a beautifully renovated space, both inside and out, that has exceeded our expectations.’

‘We are over the moon to bring home this award to Exeter,’ says Ross. He collected the Large-Scale Renovation Award with Vision’s Site Manager, Christian Dally.

‘The project has been a real labour of love for the team, with plenty of challenges along the way as would be expected in an older home.’

The FMB Awards are judged by leading industry experts, celebrating not just exceptional builds but the dedication and craftsmanship of the building industry.

Vision will now go on to compete as a finalist in the national awards which are being hosted in Manchester at the end of September.
