PSP and NCC strategic partnership to enhance region’s technologies
Accelerating the adoption of cutting edge technologies across industry is one of the key goals following the creation of a strategic partnership between Plymouth Science Park (PSP) and National Composites Centre (NCC).
Teams from Derriford based PSP and Bristol’s NCC have just signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Their goal is to enhance the region’s position as a leader in emerging technologies.
By combining expertise and resources, they aim to accelerate the adoption of cutting-edge technologies across industry. Both parties will be working closely together to bridge the gap between research and its practical application.
It means that innovations can be readily integrated into industry practices with a focus on developing future skillsets.
‘Our partnership with the National Composites Centre marks a significant milestone for Plymouth Science Park and the South West region,’ explains Ian McFadzen, PSP’s CEO.
‘By joining forces, we can drive innovation, support industry-led R&D, and build a resilient supply chain.’
‘Together, we will create a thriving ecosystem for emergent technologies and foster the development of a skilled workforce ready to tackle future challenges.’
It’s envisaged that one of the main outcomes of the partnership will be its ability strengthen local, regional, and national supply chains across a broad range of areas, including digital engineering and the sustainability sectors.
Exploring, adopting and integrating new technologies
It’s further expected the alliance will provide additional resources and opportunities for companies to thrive. A further ‘feather to their bow’ will be their collaboration to help industries as they explore, adopt and integrate new technologies into their processes.
The partnership will also encourage students, early-stage career professionals, and apprentices to gain exposure to emerging technologies.
‘The MoU with Plymouth Science Park represents a strategic alignment of our goals to enhance technological innovation and industry collaboration that will offer opportunities to develop and transform the current and future workforce,’ says Will Grocott, Head of Sectorat the National Composites Centre.
‘By leveraging our combined expertise, we aim to accelerate the adoption of advanced technologies, delivering impact and contributing to industry’s economic growth and competitiveness.’
The partnership between PSP and NCC is expected to drive technological advancements, foster innovation and build a resilient and skilled workforce for the future.
Last year saw teams at Plymouth Science Park celebrating following the securing of £500,000 funding for a new digital engineering test facility.
