International Women’s Day: A Day of Inspiration and Empowerment
Businesses, entrepreneurs, sole traders and SMEs from across the region are getting ready for the upcoming launch of the 2025 West Country Women’s Awards.
The event is being held to coincide with International Women’s Day and is taking place at the Crowne Plaza Plymouth on Friday 7th March. It starts at 0930 (ending at 1600).
Alongside the launch of the awards, there will be networking opportunities and a range of inspirational speakers sharing their ‘tips for the top.’
‘It’s set to be an incredible day and in the first hour alone we will hear from the most influential women in charity in the south west,’ says event organiser, Alexis Bowater OBE.
‘They’ll be talking about making a difference and hour on importance of representation for women: if you can see it then you can be it.’
‘These are some of the most dynamic and driven charity leaders in the region. It’s a chance for them to share their experience and strategies for how to make a difference.’
‘Leaders from the field of military, education, motivation and health’
‘One of our speakers is Hannah Shead who’s been CEO for more than 10 years. She steps down at the end of the month and this event is a chance for her to share her thoughts and recollections about the success of the charity.’
‘Throughout the day, we have leaders from the field of military, education, motivation and health.’
‘They will be speaking on themes ranging from if you can see it then you can be it, the importance of representation, the explosive power of connectivity and networking, our health hour which includes talks on brains, foods and sex and relationships. We end with an uplifting talk on how to stop talking yourself down.’
The event follows the success of last year’s Awards’ Ceremony and organisers say it’ll further allow women, from across the region, to engage in networking and discussions in key areas.
Speakers include experts from a variety of backgrounds whose presentations will be focused on business, science, relationships, health and personal safety.
The West Country Women Awards are sponsored by PL1 Events, Michael Spiers Jewellers and Plymouth Citybus, South Devon College, The Franchise Consultant Ian Williams, Womble Bond Dickinson (UK), LLP Babcock International Group and Business Fest South West.
