Westcountry Women’s Awards 2025: nominations set to close
It’s become a key event on the calendar for businesses across the south west with hundreds of women being nominated for awards. The West Country Women Awards is now celebrating its fourth year since its inception.
Organisers are already finalising details for the huge gala event at Crowne Plaza Plymouth on Friday 28 November. Hundreds of people from across the region are expected to attend the five star celebration.
‘The date is important as it marks the day that Lady Astor took her seat in the House of Commons. She was the first woman to do so,’ explains West Country Women’s Awards’ Alexis Bowater, OBE.
Alexis was instrumental in the crowd fundraising venture to raise capital for a bronze statue dedicated to Lady Astor’s achievements. It was unveiled on Plymouth Hoe on 28 November, 2019, by the former British Prime Minister, Theresa May.
The West Country Women’s Awards team is now looking for nominations across a total of 20 categories, including: Combating Violence Against Women and Girls and Best Supporting Act.
The accolades will extend from the unsung community heroes through to the fearless entrepreneurs, tireless campaigners and inspiring creatives.
‘It’s never been more important to celebrate and elevate women. The awards don’t just recognise women for what they do but they also help to build confidence and empower them in every aspect of their lives.’
The evening will see awards being presented to women who’s achievements can be celebrated by attendees, colleagues and family members.
